My quest in the American Renaissance National Pageant family began in 2004. It was a positive experience. My first year, I did not make the court of the Ms division but I was
named Ms Congeniality. I learned and grew so much during my year
as Ms Louisiana Classic and from the experiences during the pageant weekend, I decided to return.
During my first year, the delegates were like family and we supported
each other. When I returned this year, it was like a family reunion, not
a competition. The weekend was wonderful! I achieved my personal goals and more! I
won the photogenic in the Classic division and was 2nd runner up in Classic Division. This biggest honor that night was being crowned Ms Civic American Renaissance 2005. I had so many emotions. I didn’t know whether
to cry or jump up and down, so I did both! It was an awesome moment.
When I returned to Louisiana, I contacted the Mayor of Shreveport to let him know the
exciting news. Since we met on several occasions and he knows of my community
involvement, I wanted to share the news. Through my excitement, the news went
to the media. It was more than I could ever have hoped for. I even received
a congratulatory card from the parish Sheriff.
I will continue to be active with my platform VIC, Volunteer In Communities. My platform is near and dear to my heart.
I will continue to give back to my community as well as extending my commitment to other areas and states.
I’m very proud of the organizations I’m involved with: LA Humane Society,
Elvis’ Angels Fan Club and Sincerely Elvis, (both groups have taken me to different states), Shreveport director of
Queen For A Day with Shriner’s Hospital, CASA volunteer and the American Stroke Association. I’ve enjoyed being
an Emcee for several local pageants and have judged for various systems. One of
my favorite events is during Mardi Gras season. I am the director of “Lil
Elvis and the Beauty Queens” float. It has become a “mini-convention”
bringing queens from all around the United States to be a part of Louisiana culture.
My state title has taken me to some interesting new experiences such as Ice Gators Hockey
game and to various states such as Texas and Arkansas. This year, I look forward to spreading my enthusiasm for my platform. I plan on going farther than my town or surrounding states. I will be seen almost every weekend with one of my favorite organizations.
Thanks to my title of Ms Civic AR 2005, I’ve been invited to events through out the state of Louisiana and have
been invited to Florida and New York.
